Abstract:This study evaluates the importance of Emotional Intelligence in the Hospitality industry and analyse its the presence and acquaintance in Hungary. Data were collected from managerial employees of five hotels, located in Hungary and 9 well-experienced guests during a focus group interview. Results show that demand for developing EQ is high regarding both sides of the service, as it has a positive effect on the relationship between hotels and guests. Based on study results, training suggestions are provided for improvement of EQ for hotel employees through a structured training battery.
