520 3 |a In the business world, the term diversification is playing an outstanding role if it comes to the successful operation in different markets and industries. This topic is really controversial making it as an increasingly researched one, with really contradictory outcomes in terms of its advantages, disadvantages, success and rate of return. Speaking of a rapidly developing and constantly changing industry as the cosmetic one, this business strategy gains a whole new aspect even in its related or unrelated form, providing whole new different shades and interesting possibilities for the companies operating in this field. The main aim of this study is to show these above-mentioned possibilities in the cosmetic industry through the aspect of one of the most successful, world-wide accomplished health and beauty company called L’Oréal based on its diversification strategies also from a market and from a product point of view. The findings reached are based on also secondary and primary research, in which the Hungarian headquarter of the company gave me huge amount of help, giving an inside look of the company’s operation and also making this dissertation highly confidential. The primary purpose of this research is to find out if diversification is really an effective way for a cosmetic industry company being successful and to prove or disprove the statement, that diversification is one of the best ways for a cosmetic industry company making the business multinational and worldwide accomplished.
