Abstract:This dissertation defines the meaning of sustainability and sustainable development in the accommodation industry. Furthermore, the study explores the sustainable measures used by the larger hotel brands such as the Accor and the IHG. Additionally, it analyzes measures employed in the two selected regions, which were Central Europe and South-East Asia. At last, it compares and contrasts the measures between a hotel in Budapest and a hotel in Bangkok: Intercontinental Budapest and the Grand Mercure Fortune Bangkok.To achieve the objectives of the dissertation, data was collected throughout secondary and primary research. During the primary research phase, qualitative method was used, therefore two structured interviews were implemented in order to provide better insights into the topic.After the secondary and primary research, the objectives and the hypothesis were concluded.
