Kivonat:The traveling, the change of environment and relaxation are almost a necessity in this fast-paced modern world, which can be helped by the practice of a loved activity, which provides rest for the mind, while also supporting the regaining of strength, which is needed in order to be able to continue the busy, working life. This activity is assumedly found in the form of cycling. The purpose of the dissertation is to demonstrate and to prove, that there is a growing demand and tendency towards bicycle tourism, which offers unique experiences in Hungary, as nowadays experience tourism is becoming the norm. In the thesis, the presence of bicycle tourism is explored internationally including Denmark and Hungary. Copenhagen is considered to be one of the best capital cities for cycling, which explains the reason of selecting it to be the base component of the comparative analysis. The current situation of the routes and the upcoming improvements are explored in Copenhagen and the rapidly improving Budapest. Questionnaires and interviews help the author in discovering the possible target groups and their habits in choosing to cycle. Furthermore, it is demonstrated how this type of tourism can contribute to sustainability and how it could work efficiently in the future. The author hopes that the thesis is enlightening, while it is also able to contribute to the reinforcement of the cycling tourism in Hungary, as well as its successful future. An additional aim of the dissertation is to underline the possibilities to expand within this field in the domestic tourism, while giving encouragement to those, who wish to invest in a business similar as this in the future.
