| Kivonat: | In the 21st century, innovation has become the key ingredient of international competitiveness and economic growth; therefore, it is useful to identify the good practices, tools and initiatives of successful countries for those countries, who are still devoting a lot of efforts in reproducing such a successful catching-up. Additionally, technological advancement, the key concern of this thesis, is achieved primarily through R&D expenditure.In this thesis, Japan and Hungary R&D policies have been widely discussed.
