Kivonat: | Syrian civil war created political and economic consequences for the countries in the region and the European countries. This thesis examines how Alternative fur Deutschland (Alternative for Germany- AfD) built their discourses on Syrian immigrants and Muslim minorities as a security problem in Germany since 2015. In 2013, AfD was established as a European skeptical and neoliberal party, however, as of 2015 with the effects of the Syrian Refugee Crisis, their political line has been moved to an anti-immigrant and nationalist line. In this study, it can be seen the transformation of AfD’s party staff and their political identity to encode the refugee crisis as a security issue for Germany. It turned the refugee crisis into a political tool in consolidating the AfD's political legitimacy and success. The fact that the AfD points to immigrants and Muslims as a threat has been an important tool of the party in organizing the masses and strengthening its own political power. |
