The research is made to shed light on the effects of digital tools on the state of human rights, specifically in China's Xinjiang region. This research finds that Chinese authorities violate provisions of specific human rights treaties by heavily censoring the Internet, enacting excessive AI-Powered surveillance, and collecting massive amounts of data on its citizens without their knowledge or/and consent. Moreover, the research concludes that China is pursuing the goal of exporting its digital authoritarianism model abroad to amend the universal human rights system.
