During the last century, foreign affairs have been regionally focused especially after the cold war where every country got focused on tightening its relations with its neighboring nations. In the last decade, Turkey has been surfacing on the leading sphere of nations. Its quick economic and military development made it a favorable ally to acquire for its neighboring countries. Its location, history and politics were also crucial factors of this rapid growth. Turkey has become the 17th largest economy of the world and the sixth largest in Europe. Turkey’s territories rest on Asia, Europe and borders the Middle East. Turkey is also surrounded by the Black Sea, Aegean Sea and the Mediterranean. The change in the ruling structures in the MENA has also shown how reactive Turkey is in regards to its foreign relations. The phenomenon of the Arab Spring which began in 2011 and quickly spread to the Arab world was very much supported by Turkey. Turkey has sought to exert its power in the region both in protection of political Islam and to promote its industries. The given study will illustrate how this regional influence is applied through examples of hard power usage in countries like Syria, Egypt and Libya. And through other methods such as soft diplomacy and economic stand with the case of Tunisia.
