| Abstract: | The aim of this thesis is to find out more information about the relationship between the Port and Gijón. I faced with this phenomenon while I was working for the Port of Gijón from October until January. I got familiar with different kind of projects what the Port applied for. These EU financed projects aimed to develop the infrastructure, the logistics, the safety and security issues, the maritime and shipping sector, the connection between the Port and the city as well as the Port and the University. I want to test the significance of these projects, so I stated several questions in order to investigate the role of the Port in general. I use data from relevant books, articles as well as presentation and brochures from the Port; also I used my own working experience. At the end of my thesis I would like to summarise the significant role of the Port of Gijón, and how it influences the life of the city. |
