Description
Abstract:Non-biodegradable, single-use packaging poses a great risk to our environment and economy. These materials often appear as food packaging, specifically in the readymade food section. This study investigates the amount of plastic packaging present in the HORECA sector and the effectiveness of paper as a possible substitute. The research was carried out with the help of interviews. In order for a better understanding of the characteristics of the materials, both paper experts and packaging material users were questioned. The findings indicate that the average packaging material users are not aware of the health risks plastics pose to them. As long the price of plastics is a fraction of as of papers, changes can only be made with the help of a global movement or involvements of local governments.
