Kivonat:In this thesis, the effects of event tourism on the socio-economic development of Azerbaijan have been researched. The role of event tourism in Azerbaijan is increasing each year slightly by taking place in sports events, festivals, musical competitions, tourism fairs. Since 2012 when Eurovision Song Contest was held in Baku, Azerbaijan has become one of the events centres in the world. As the number of events held in Baku increases, tourist arrivals also increase slightly. By mentioning event tourism, festivals, seminars, meeting events and some other events are taken into consideration. As mentioned, the increasing number of events held in Azerbaijan has impacts on socio-economic development. Therefore, the importance of event tourism was one of the essential reasons in order to select this topic. The methodology is based on two types of method, which are qualitative and quantitative, as well as secondary data were obtained from books, articles, web pages, journals. Expert interviews included a qualitative approach; surveys about the effects of event tourism on socioeconomic development were a part of the quantitative method. According to my research, event tourism is a new type of tourism for the country, and in order to achieve sustainable development, it is required to find out and apply new strategies, programs and plans. Therefore, the author's recommendations can be considered some of the solutions to prevent challenges related to that topic.
