Kivonat:In this thesis, I will describe the Multilateral Investment Agreement was a draft agreement that was concluded in secret among the members of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development between 1995 and 1998. The main points that I will focus on are the reasons why this venture failed, how the countries of the NAFTA organization, represented by the United States of America, reacted to this and tried to protect the domestic investment. This is closely related to my specialization in international economics and business, as it is an excellent example of the error and difficulties that the participating countries met. By making a good analysis of their actions, negotiations, and external facts, one can examine the main reasons for their failure in this arrangement. Investment in all its forms is one of the most important factors in the country's economy and foreign policy. Each government should analyze well the situation on the world stage in order to be as effective as possible for its country and other states in the event of any agreements. Having made an analysis of the Multilateral Investment Agreement, I will try to describe all the stages of this process, the influence of external factors and the positions of countries.
