To test this, the researcher revised literature made within the recent years to define, understand, and evaluate the progress in combatting poverty by the African Union while supporting it with a purposive survey. Initially, this work evaluated the foreign aid donor countries and organizations’ contributions while referring to a generated dependency syndrome. Economic diplomacy in this study was reduced to commercial and business diplomacy. For the former, trade was proven efficient thus a theory of change model for the African Continental Free Trade Agreement was developed. Yet, FDI was linked to short-term effects based on the level of development with poorer states benefiting the most. As for business diplomacy, Corporate Social Responsibility and social entrepreneurship presented the private sector commitment towards the community through contributing to halting poverty.
