The effect of popular opinion on politics regarding these issues, and the feedback effect of politics on the popular opinion in return will also be shown throughout all chapters. The first chapter provides a cursory overview into what pollution is, what are the main pollutants, how humanity creates and releases these pollutants, and what their effect is on the environment and the health of humanity as a species. The second chapter is a summary of the problems created by non-biodegradable plastic and how the lack of proper action from Western nations with developed economies and technologically advanced industries failed to properly solve the issue of plastic waste and instead pushed it onto Southeast Asian nations creating a diplomatic divide. The third chapter details the international attempts at limiting greenhouse gas emissions in an attempt to avoid a global climate catastrophe, and how the Trump administration attempting to pull the United States out of the most important agreement. The fourth chapter relates to nuclear energy and its role as a potential solution to the climate crisis, while having such low public opinion that it causes political decision which are vastly counter-productive in terms of climate action; such as Germany fully rolling back its nuclear energy program.
