Abstract: | In this study, we defined four different types of candidates: active, passive, referrals, and internal. The research questions were (i) what type of candidates (from the ones I mentioned above) is preferred by the company and why? (ii)Which tools are needed to get to the different candidates? To answer these questions, I conducted a qualitative study that included interviews with six professional recruiters working in the Dutch market. The results of the study showed the advantages and disadvantages of each type of candidate. Interviewees also answered how to reach each type of candidate. There seems to be an advantage to candidates referred by company employees, but there are also advantages to other types of candidates and it is not possible to rely on just one type of candidates. Also, there is a clear advantage to recruiting candidates through LinkedIn (as a job board or active sourcing), but here too one should be active and not just rely on this tool. In conclusion, a company should be able to absorb any type of candidates, and be able to be active on many levels in order to attract the candidates. |
