| Abstract: | The research focuses on analyzing the level of internationalization of the Small and Medium-sized enterprises from Moldova. It presents an overview of the general economic situation of the country and its business environment, studying the performance of the SMEs, their legal framework and internationalization characteristics. The study reveals the present level of internationalization, the common market entry modes, the existing barriers that restrict these enterprises from expanding abroad, and the specific characteristics of the internationalized SMEs. The paper is based on the available statistics and literature, together with two interviews, which were based on a questionnaire and were conducted with the experts from Moldova. The research highlights the importance of the internationalization for the economy of the country and the existing institutions, organizations which support this process. Finally, the study points out at concrete actions and measures that have to be taken in order to stimulate the internationalization and development of the Moldovan SMEs sector. |
