Description
Abstract:Rural tourism is very important for the rural development of any country. Primarily, the development of rural tourism depends on the overall socio-economic development, tourist supply, and demand as well as the social situation in the country. In other words, great attention is paid to rural tourism, especially in the context of the development of rural areas that are dominant in Serbia. The aim of this thesis is to define the importance of rural tourism in the Republic of Serbia, specifically for the entire area of this country, where it is presented as a country of diverse and preserved nature, with elements of attractiveness. Also, the aim is to point out the importance of directions and priorities in the development of ecological and rural tourism, which has a great opportunity in a very demanding and picky domestic and international market. As rural tourism is still developing, the paper identifies potentials for progress and improvement of the tourist offer, highlights shortcomings that prevent faster development, and all this is shown through the analysis of the tourist destination Bački Monoštor located in Serbia. The empirical part of the paper presents the results of the research related to the tourist supply and demand for the destination Bački Monoštor, based on which it can be determined how to maximize the potential of this destination but also how to minimize deficiencies or underdeveloped factors affecting the general development of rural tourism in this territory. Keywords: rural tourism, Republic of Serbia, Bački Monoštor, tourist destination, development
