| Abstract: | This thesis is about the development of tourism in Ooty, India and its impacts on the natural environment. Aimed at finding out the challenges in achieving sustainability at the destination. The issues such as impacts on the natural environment of Ooty because of mass tourism and human-wildlife conflict in the Nilgiri Biosphere reserve, sustainability, challenges reaching the sustainable development goals are discussed. The public infrastructure and tourism infrastructure of Ooty and its role in sustainability were also discussed. Tourists and locals point of view, and awareness about ecotourism was also researched, with respect to their age and educational qualification. |
