The role of the thematic routes in tourism within Eger region

| Kivonat: | Tourism is one of the defining sectors of the economy. Nowadays, consumers prefer complex tourism products instead of single offers. The increased demand for cultural and creative tourism creates an ideal opportunity to create, implement, and promote thematic routes in the tourism portfolio. In my thesis, I examined the thematic routes within the Eger region. My research consists of 2 parts: analysis of a literature review and primary research. During the analyses, I evaluated the thematic routes' possibilities and potentials in the region. For deeper insight, interviews were conducted with DMO managers and with managers of the region's thematic tours. As social media and online appearance are getting more reliable and relevant in the travel industry, therefore a comprehensive content analysis was required following the thematic routes´ online appearance. In the final chapter, the consequences of the pandemic on thematic routes are considered, preceded by new travel patterns that have evolved as a result. |
