520 3 |a This paper intends to analyze and compare the climate change mitigation strategies of the United States of America (USA) and the People’s Republic of China (PRC) in the context of the Paris Accords, their respective INDCs and the mitigation actions taken since their Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) submissions to the UNFCCC. Furthermore, the purpose of the thesis is to compare and contrast the formal characteristics as well as the contents of the INDCs submitted, while considering the key components of greenhouse gas reduction policies, namely energy, transportation, industrial processes, agriculture, land-use change and forestry, and finally wastes (IPCC Climate Change, 2014). After having identified the similarities and differences, this paper intends to suggest solutions for future reference.
