Kivonat: | Qualitative research was used to study the digital transformation obstacles and possible solutions for small and medium-sized family-owned businesses in Laos. Data were collected by interviewing entrepreneurs in 6 companies, divided into types of business according to the definition of an SME business. The interviews were conducted in an open-ended, in-depth interview format. Results were that every company wants to change its own organization to compete and do business. Medium-sized businesses find that technology has already changed their business. Small businesses will be in the phase of focusing on work as usual so the business can run daily, but slightly invest in digital transformation. Businesses with some knowledge and understanding of digital transformation (DT) had some habitual and cultural barriers to initiating change. On the other hand, companies that do not know and understand the principles of DT have moved forward without the business itself knowing that the activities or actions are a transformation of the organization to the digital age. These findings imply that family-owned SMEs may need to strengthen staff and management education, awareness, understanding, and internal assessments to handle the difficulties of technological innovation in highly competitive business industry. It is possible to consider the external component of contact between technology and capital. And research discovered disparities in business methods, and the principles of small and medium-sized family-owned businesses were summarized and compared to advantages for extending the outcomes. |
