| Abstract: | One of the most recent trends, that falls into the event tourism industry, is wedding tourism, which has shown major growth globally. First marriages, remarriages, and vow renewals are all types of this tourism, each with unique characteristics and purposes. There are several positive and negative effects, including economic, environmental, social, and cultural impacts, which are explained in this paper. Wedding tourism is still expanding and brings in huge amounts of money to popular tourist destinations like Italy or Malta among others. Several nations make efforts to position themselves and be more welcoming to this type of tourism, including establishing venues and making an overall good image of the location. In Hungary, the destination wedding industry is not developed enough here to attract necessary wedding tourists, but this market can arise with a well-detailed strategy and a collaboration of wedding-related businesses to meet demands. The reason for the study is to discuss and analyze the presence of wedding tourism all over the world, to study the benefits of destination weddings, to explain a few challenges, and to introduce some steps that are required to overcome the difficulties in order to promote Hungary as a wedding destination. |
