Description
Abstract:Tourism is a complex system with three main components: the tourist, the generating region, and the host country. The tourism industry has experienced a dynamic development in recent years, mainly caused by technological advancements. However, it has now surpassed the point where it has more negative than positive implications. Many tourists visit certain destinations, and their carrying capacity is already exceeded, resulting in a destructive impact on the environment, locals, and even fellow tourists. The purpose of the study was to discover how the phenomenon of overtourism affects tourists and whether it can end up causing them to choose a less explored destination in the future. As a quantitative research strategy, I created a bilingual questionnaire and then summarized the responses of 154 participants. Eventually, it can be noticed that people start to distance themselves from famous locations; however, this observation requires further research to report this new trend.
