In terms of the government's national poverty reduction strategy.   Globally, the government has adopted poverty alleviation as its principal strategy for enhancing the economy and social factors. The government of the Lao People's Democratic Republic is concerned with this strategy to improve the country's economy and graduate from the category of least-developed countries. Microfinance was the instrument utilized to assist Laos in achieving this objective. The researcher has decided to investigate this issue in the Viengxay district of Houaphan Province. In this study, both quantitative and qualitative methods were implemented. The survey was used to collect numerical statistical information from 30 respondents in three villages in the district of Viengxay. The semi-structured interview included three leaders of a smallholder farmer group, two officers of a microfinance institution, and one participant in the northern smallholder livestock commercialization project to illustrate the broader scope of this study.   This research summarizes the findings and evidence that microfinance affects the financial situation and improves the property and living conditions of smallholder farmer groups in the northern Lao PDR. There is a recommendation to inquire with smallholder farmers, microfinance institutions, the northern smallholder livestock commercialization project, and the government sector for a better result in the eradication of poverty in Laos and to ensure the national objective and economic growth.
