Abstract:The concept of populism has become heard more frequently in recent years. Populist rhetoric and leaders in many countries around the world, from America to Europe and Asia, have risen in the political arena. Therefore, the subject of populism was deemed worthy of research. This study consists of 3 main sections. In the first chapter, the definition and characteristics of the concept of populism are given. In the second chapter, the reasons behind populist politics in Eastern and Western European countries are examined. In the last chapter, the main subject of the study, the rise and rhetoric of populist right wing parties in Hungary is included.
