To assess the causes for this interest, we examined the market trends of electric vehicles over the last decade to see how they have evolved and what has brought them to the forefront. The advantages of electric vehicles over conventional cars, as well as government policies, have been assessed to determine their impact on such interest. Customers' motivations for buying an electric vehicle were also explored. Finally, we attempted to relate these factors to people's motives in order to understand why there has been such a surge in interest in electric vehicles recently. We conclude that technological advancements have created even more advantages over conventional cars, which has triggered a market growth trend for electric vehicles (EVs) since a decade ago. However, as Covid-19 has emerged, governments' policies and people's increased environmental awareness have encouraged them to buy electric vehicles, resulting in a massive increase in EV sales.
