Description
Abstract:Thepresent study aims to analyse the responses from the UNHCR in Hungary, as wellas the European Union and Hungarian government during the 2015 “Syrian” and the2022 Ukrainian refugee crises. We intend to provide a comparison between the crisis-handling actions of both periods and deliver an analysis on which aspects couldbe improved in order to generate a more effective response. To be able tounderstand the responses from the UNHCR in Hungary, we may not avoid assessingthe factors that influenced them and consider the multiple actors that shapedthe political environment of the given events. For this reason, we navigate throughthe historical background of the conflicts, implemented policies, directives, legalframeworks and humanitarian efforts to tackle the given refugee crises.
