Throughout this paper, I willdiscuss the VLP project, which is a priority project for the government. Byimplementing and managing the VLP project, the Lao government turned the crisisinto an opportunity to connect the landlocked country to the Land Link inaccordance with the National Logistic Strategy.Sincethe Lao People's Democratic Republic is the only landlocked nation in SoutheastAsia, it relied on Soviet military and economic assistance until 1991. Therehave historically been many economic challenges facing Lao PDR. Thedepreciation of the currency and inflation contribute to the high cost ofliving. The majority of products are imported from other countries, and thecountry lacks adequate logistical infrastructure. Lao PDR will benefit from theVLP as it will provide numerous opportunities and service packages that willhelp it move one step closer to becoming the logistic centre of the region, aswell as the coming of the Laos-China railway.Regulation, laws, and decrees are tools used to support the development of this logisticpark in order to achieve the Lao government's goal of becoming the Lao landlink for the region. In addition to secondary data sources, I discussedlogistics theoretically and in terms of its potential within a country. I alsogained a better understanding of VLP since it is the only integrated logisticspark in Vientiane. Nevertheless, it led me to realize that Laos has a lot oflogistical opportunities. The foreign market is small, or to put it anotherway, there are few competitors. We can also see from the regulations and thepriority that the government gives to VLP that the government aims to driveLaos logistics to even higher levels. Furthermore, it will not leave behindlocal logistic companies. This will make Lao PDR a Land-Linked country in theGreater Mekong Subregion (GMS) and a hub for ASEAN and China. A VLP networkwill be used between ASEAN, China, and Europe. Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, andSingapore are also connected to the VLP through the VLP.Further, the VLPproject is the only integrated logistics park in Vientiane Capital. In order tomaximize regional economic integration and logistics connectivity, VLP combinesfive key components at one location. Keywords: Freight transport, Global Supply Chain, Hub, Land Linked, Landlocked,Logistic centre, Logistics Parks, Transhipment
