This thesis is about investigating the culture shock experienced by western Armenians that have immigrated to Armenia” the reasons that contribute to it, and the coping techniques they use to overcome the obstacles connected with it. The study uses a mixed-methods approach, especially qualitative data, to provide a full picture of the culture shock experiences. The first section of this thesis is a survey of existing literature on culture shock, with an emphasis on its definition, stages, and factors that contribute to it. Culture shock is a broad and complicated phenomenon that includes psychological, emotional, and social obstacles that people face when they encounter a new and unfamiliar culture. Building on this foundation, the second section of the thesis includes an empirical analysis of refugees' culture shock experiences. The study employs a sample of immigrants from the several cultural backgrounds who have been relocated in Armenia. A survey is utilized to collect qualitative data, which analyzes the intensity of culture shock, the factors that contribute to it, and the coping mechanisms adopted by the Western Armenian immigrants. In-depth interviews are used to collect qualitative data, which provides rich narratives of the refugees' experiences and viewpoints on culture shock. The study's findings show that migrants experience culture shock in a variety of ways, with some reporting more severe symptoms than others. Language obstacles, difficulties comprehending cultural norms and practices, and feelings of loneliness and isolation are among the most typical challenges faced by immigrants. The third section of the thesis addresses the findings' policy and practice implications. It emphasizes the importance of specific interventions, such as language instruction, cultural orientation programs, and social support services, to assist refugees in their cultural adaptation process. Finally, this thesis adds to existing knowledge on culture shock by shedding light on the unique experiences of immigrants, a population that has been largely ignored in previous research. The study's findings have important implications for policy makers, service providers, and host communities, as they emphasize the significance of addressing the problems associated with culture shock in order to promote refugees and immigrants' successful integration and well-being in their new environment.
