Kivonat:Thispaper examines the institutional economics perspective and applies it to three differentsystems in Eastern Asia: the keiretsu in Japan, the chaebol in South Korea, andguanxi in China. The perspective helps to understand how institutional economicsshape and are shaped by business practices. The keiretsu is a network ofinterdependent companies in Japan that has been instrumental in its economicdevelopment but criticized for being insular. The chaebol in South Korea hasdominated the economy but has been criticized for lack of transparency andcrowding out smaller businesses. Guanxi in China is a system of personalconnections and relationships that is important for business but can createcorruption and an uneven playing field. The aim of this research is tounderstand the role of these institutions and how it is possible for them to promotetransparency, fairness, and competition in these economies.Keywords:Asian Capitalism; Institutional Economics; Chaebols; Guanxi; Keiretsu.
