Description
Abstract:Laos, a country located in Southeast Asia, is celebrated for its stunning mountainous terrain, French colonial architectural heritage, and burgeoning economy. It possesses abundant resources, a vibrant culture, and substantial potential. One of its most notable resources is premium coffee, cultivated in the fertile soils of the Bolaven Plateau. However, despite the rich resources and the potential for a thriving local coffee industry, the domestic premium coffee scene in Vientiane, the capital of Laos, has faced stiff competition from international brands like Starbucks and True Coffee. This dominance of imported coffee chains has led to a decrease in the popularity of local Laotian coffee shops, a trend counter to the global movement towards locally sourced and artisanal products. Understanding the consumer behavior behind this preference for imported brands is crucial, given the high quality of Laotian coffee.
