Abstract: | In the realm of modern industrial evolution, Industry 4.0 emerges as a transformative force, reshaping the operational landscapes of various sectors globally. The thesis focuses on the explicit effects of Industry 4.0 on Hungarian SMEs in the Cosmetic sector. This research seeks to discover through a qualitative method how technological progress under Industry 4.0 is impacting manufacturing and distributing SMEs’ operational effectiveness. The center of this work revolves around the study of digital integration and automation schemes that underline the 4th Industrial revolution. Cyber-physical systems, IoT and automation technology enabled processes. This study attempts to explain the implementation and adaptation of smart technologies in the Hungarian cosmetics industry, a complex environment in the industrial revolution. This study focuses on qualitative interviews with leading actors within the Hungarian cosmetics industry from producers as well as distributors point of view. This thesis explores some of these findings to identify the differing challenges companies face in the process of adopting technology in this dynamic industry environment. In addition, the impact that Industry 4.0 has on SMEs in Hungary considering aspects such as labor cost, technological knowledge, and resistance to change is also discussed. The results enhance understanding on how business process, supply chain management, and overall performance in cosmetics sector within the industry are transformed by Industry 4.0. |
