Development of the Digital Workplace in Japan, with Special Emphasis on the Effect of COVID-19 Pandemic

| Kivonat: | The COVID-19 global pandemic brought a sudden change in everyone's life and shifted the labour force and enterprises' work norms into virtual spaces. This required rapid development and adaptation in the work life. Japan is a country that was seemingly prepared for such a transition when it comes to its technological advancement.In my Bachelor's thesis, I answer the questions of how the global pandemic affected the tendency of digitalisation in the workplaces in Japan and to what extent by showing the workplace's situations prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. Other than the main question, I also investigated how much the pandemic changed the working norms in the post-COVID-19 era and what tools and technologies gained popularity in the meantime.Lastly, I showed if the transition affected the efficiency and productivity of Japanese employees and how the government helped in the country's digital transformation. |
