Kivonat: | In recent years, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries have become significant players in the global tourism market, aiming for luxury and sustainability to diversify their economies. This thesis assesses European interest in Gulf tourism, focusing on the UAE, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia. It explores how perceptions of Islamic culture and the Gulf region influence European travel decisions, addressing factors such as cultural adjustment, security, and politics. The study also examines European awareness of Gulf tourism offerings and the potential for positive experiences to change perceptions of the region and Islam as a whole. Combining secondary research with a quantitative approach using an online questionnaire, the study provides insights into the dynamics between European travelers and GCC countries, offering implications for tourism policymakers and stakeholders in the Gulf region. The research highlights the transformative power of tourism in bridging cultural gaps and challenging stereotypes, emphasizing the importance of understanding the complex relationship between perception, travel, and cultural exchange. |
