Kivonat:AbstractThis thesis analyses the possibilities of adapting traditional rock salt mining sites into sustainable tourism attractions in Savannakhet, Laos. Although these sites possess abundant geological and cultural significance, they are not fully utilized for tourism, resulting in missed chances for economic expansion and cultural conservation. The research seeks to analyze the difficulties and advantages of transforming salt mines into tourist destinations, evaluate sustainable tourism strategies, investigate visitor preferences, and evaluate the socio-economic advantages for local communities. An inquiry was undertaken to assess the level of interest, knowledge, inclinations, and apprehensions regarding tourism in salt mines. The results emphasize the possibility of promoting tourism, the significance of maintaining sustainability, and the requirement for involving the community. The identified challenges include environmental impact, infrastructure development, and effective marketing strategies. These challenges highlight the significance of strategic planning and collaboration among stakeholders.
