Kivonat: | This thesis aims to explore the function of civil societies in Sierra Leone, specifically their impact on political participation and engagement within the nation. The research methodology employed in this study is qualitative, as it aligns optimally with the research questions and objectives, and also supports the sampling technique utilized by the researcher. Thus, a vivid descriptive approach is used in analyzing the results and contents of the research and in summary, these findings established that civil societies in Sierra Leone plays a crucial role in involving citizens national political decision making through the facilitation of active participation. This close relationship between civil societies and political participation has profound positive implications even on the country’s system of government – democracy. However, the study also highlights visible challenges and faced by CSOs and preferred ways and means how these shortcomings and challenges can be adequately addressed. |
