Existing research highlights the increasing need for effective intercultural management due to globalization, yet it often overlooks Hungary’s unique cultural and economic context. This study aims to bridge this gap by analysing qualitative data collected through interviews with HR professionals experienced in managing diverse teams. In the literature review, the reader is guided through the term “culture” and its roots. We take a deeper look into Hofstede’s six cultural dimensions, as well as the position of Hungary on those dimensions. Lastly, migration as a then, then Hungarian migration patterns are investigated. Key research questions address the role of human resources in aligning global policies with local practices, the challenges faced by foreign workers, including discrimination and integration difficulties, and the measures taken by organizations to support cultural diversity and inclusion. To find out more about my research topic, I conducted expert interviews with people working in HR to get a deeper understanding of what they are doing and what challenges they face during their daily work, when it comes to intercultural management. The study contributes to the field by providing insights into the practical applications of intercultural management in Hungary, emphasizing the significance of adaptive strategies in achieving successful multicultural integration and promoting workplace harmony.
