Kivonat:In this thesis I discuss the transformative role of digital catalogues in the retail sector by way of their effect on operational efficiency, environmental sustainability and competitive advantage. My research shows how workflow is streamlined through digital catalogues which ensure real time data accuracy and replace paper based systems, which fits with sustainability goals through a mixed methods approach including a detailed case study of Henkel Hungary. The results show that the introduction of digital catalogues results in significant gains through improved collaboration and reduction of administrative burdens as well as increased external partnerships. Though, to fully benefit from them, many challenges such as the employee resistance, data accuracy and technological infrastructure limitations will have to be conquered. The story of how Henkel moved from print to digital is made one of the many benefits to advance by rolling with planning carefully, being careful enough with the people in the workforce and using a modular platform design. According to my study, digital catalogues are not simply digital operations assets but they drive innovation, sustainability and growth in the new retail world, as they become strategic enablers.
