This thesis explores the long-term impact of the pandemic on purchasing habits in Hungary and the Czech Republic, focusing on the development of the online food retail sector. Theoretical foundations of consumer behavior, the differences between online and offline shopping, and the role of digital transformation in retail are examined. Through a detailed case study of Kifli.hu and the Rohlik Group, supported by financial analysis and PESTEL analysis, the thesis provides an in-depth understanding of the business responses to the pandemic. An empirical research study based on an online questionnaire investigates changes in consumer habits, confirming the hypotheses that COVID-19 led to a lasting increase in online grocery shopping and that adoption was faster and stronger in the Czech market compared to Hungary. The findings highlight that online grocery shopping has become an integral part of everyday life for many consumers and suggest strategic directions for future development in the retail sector. | |
