The Hungarian company focuses on breeding various crop varieties and plans to establish their presence on the Kazakhstani market. The study identifies major legal, regulatory, and cultural barriers and opportunities in the local agricultural industry and assesses Alfaseed’s prospects on the market. The research applies a qualitative methodology, conducted through semi-structured interviews with three field experts: a Kazakh agricultural stakeholder, an Alfaseed representative, and a representative of the Kazakh national investments agency, KazakhInvest. The findings are supported with a comprehensive secondary study, with a detailed view on existing market entry modes, the legal framework of Kazakhstan, and relationships between Hungary and Kazakhstan. Among all examined approaches, joint venture was chosen as the most sufficient market entry mode for Alfaseed. The strategy ensures legal compliance, sharing financial and operational risks, and establishing long-term strategic alliances. This paper presents practical recommendations for Alfaseed, focusing on the local market conditions. The research can be valuable for international agribusinesses planning expansion to Kazakhstan, and evaluates the market as an entry point for potential expansion to Central Asia. | |
