| Kivonat: | The research examines the relationship between sustainable travel trends and the consumer behavior of Gen Z. Environmentally conscious and responsible attitudes are gaining increasing attention and becoming more relevant in travel decisions. This study aims to explore current travel trends and determine the extent to which sustainability plays a role in Generation Z's decisions. The thesis seeks to answer the research questions using quantitative methods. In the online survey, 194 Hungarian participants from Generation Z shared their views on the most important factors that influence their travel behavior. The study summarizes the survey results and its main conclusions regarding the specific ways young people contribute to sustainable tourism, how conscious they are of their decisions, and the extent to which their online presence influences them. The results show that this generation prioritizes cost-effectiveness and convenience over sustainability, despite often expressing concerns about environmental issues. Social media significantly impacts reviving the desire to travel and shaping their travel habits. The study concludes that although Generation Z is aware of today's environmental challenges, sustainability's economic and social dimensions rarely feature in the public consciousness. Due to the powerful influence of online platforms, there is a need for educative marketing communication by large companies, which includes comprehensive education of younger generations on sustainable measures. However, the sample proved to be limited in its representativeness and therefore does not fully reflect the diversity of the entire Generation Z. |
