This supposition is especially significant nowadays, and has been frequently studied in the last decade, mostly in Western countries. My research employs a quantitative methodology. By creating a questionnaire that I distributed to parents who evaluated their children's communication skills I could get an insider view on this question and topic. This helped gather honest and straightforward answers, which were a key part of my study. The survey also had questions about children’s social skills, as well as their ability to form connections and interpret communicational signs. The questions were composed to reveal children’s improvement or deterioration concerning their skills. This method of research allowed me to do a statistical analysis based on their given answers, which I could later compare to other studies, giving me a solid base for comparison. The primary research question focuses on identifying if early and frequent phone use correlates with a decline in communication skills among children: the data collected revealed that the impact is less noticeable in younger children, as phones have been part of their environment from an early age. This also made my research more difficult, since parents couldn’t identify whether their children’s skills were affected by digital devices or not. However, in older age groups, such as teenagers, a significant decline in communication skills is more noticeable. These findings suggest that while younger children may adapt more naturally to digital environments, prolonged phone exposure in older children could have more detrimental effects on face-to-face communication- and social skills. My research, based in Hungary, provides valuable insights into how different age groups are affected by early digital exposure, contributing to ongoing discussions on technology's role in childhood development.
