| Kivonat: | This thesis explores wedding tourism in Hungary, with a particular focus on foreign couples who choose the country as the location for their dream wedding. Wedding tourism is a growing and unique segment of the tourism industry, combining travel, event planning, and cultural experiences. Hungary is a beautiful destination where every couple can find the perfect venue for their big day, whether that be a historic castle, a scenic wine region, a modern city location, or a romantic lakeside setting.The research aims to uncover the motivations of foreign couples, gather insights from Hungarian wedding planners, and analyze both the opportunities and challenges currently faced by the industry. The qualitative research includes three in-depth interviews with experienced wedding planners who work with international clients.Findings show that Hungary holds strong potential as a wedding tourism destination. However, the current economic situation, especially inflation, along with the ongoing war in the neighboring region, poses serious uncertainties. Rising prices and concerns about regional safety have led many couples to consider other destinations.Another challenge was the limited availability of relevant and detailed academic sources on this topic, especially in the Hungarian context. This made it difficult to draw deeply grounded, data-driven conclusions.Nevertheless, the thesis highlights that as inflation stabilizes and regional conflicts ease, Hungary’s wedding tourism industry could once again thrive. The country's natural beauty, cultural richness, and well-known hospitality provide a solid foundation for Hungary to remain a competitive destination in the global wedding tourism market. |
