Abstract: | Abstract COVID-19 disease is a very contaiguous virally transmitted illness that is currently changing our world. People needed to change their everyday activities, and somehow try to adapt to the new circumstances. The aim of this study is to show how people managed to cope with these new circumstances regarding their financial habits and behaviour. This study revealed, that in order to be able to resemble our pre-pandemic way of living, serious measures had to be imposed both from the side of the government and the people as well. People had to find ways, how to avoid getting contaminated, in which using cash plays a key role. The study shows how the proportion of cash and card usage was before the appearance of the virus, in addition, it also shows how people changed their financial way of thinking after the pandemic hit the country. Nevertheless, I aim to emphasise that as a nation, Hungarians rely on cash too much, not giving enough place to alternative methods of payment. I also try to highlight the importance of using alternative equivalents of cash, as well as I try to discuss all the benefits, that come with using alternative solutions of payment. In the end, I would like to see how short-term changes, that has been created by COVID-19 how it will effect people’s behaviour and way of thinking in the long-run as well. |
