| Kivonat: | This thesis is about United Nations' arms embargo on Iran. In addition to a brief introduction to the main organs of the UN, Iran's economy, population and armed forces are discussed. The main aspect of the essay, however, is the sanction system imposed on Iran, the effects of its lifting and Iran's possible plans for the future. It also includes an overview of Iran's nuclear programme, its historical background and the events that led to the imposition of sanctions. Given that Iran is considered a country of considerable influence at the international level and a major regional player, the impact of a system of sanctions imposed collectively on the country by several countries raises important questions. This thesis tries to find the answer to these questions. |
