Kivonat: | This study aims to analyze the participants' and organizers' attitudes to the sustainability of events, particularly sports events organized in the Mátra. This region was chosen as the sample area because it is famous for its various foot races, hikes, and bicycle races, like Mátra-crag, Winter Mátra, “Santa Claus” Hike, Tour de Hongrie or Tour the Mátra, to mention a few examples. These sporting events move thousands of partakers not only from Northern Hungary but from all over the country, even from abroad, and while people participating in these events tend to be more conscious of, for example, the environment, they, maybe unconsciously, are still ignoring the importance of social and economic sustainability. The goal of this study is to find out to what extent the organizers, participants, and locals are aware of the existence of the social and economic pillars and their importance. Of course, although the primary goal of this thesis is to find a way to make sports events in the area more environmentally sustainable, it is also of great importance to find ways for them to develop from the social and economic sides as well. |
