| Kivonat: | Adventuretourism is a growing segment of nature-based tourism that involves activitiesin undisturbed natural environments. This includes high-risk activities such asrock climbing, which has not been fully explored as an adventure tourismproduct in Hungary. Research in this area is necessary to promote the cultureof rock climbing in a sustainable way and to determine its potential as anadventure tourism product. After a thorough review of the existing literature thestudy used a mixed-methods approach to gain a better understanding of thehistory and culture of rock climbing in Hungary and the Hungarian climbingcommunity. The research aimed to provide an overview of the topic fromdifferent perspectives and to identify the needs, motivation, and demands ofpeople interested in the sport. Theresearch concludes that rock climbing has real potential as an adventure tourismproduct in Hungary, with a high level of interest from both current andpotential climbers. The sport has the potential to contribute to thesustainable development of tourism in Hungary and also reveals that rock climbing has real socio-economic potential. |
