Description
Abstract:The Belt and Road Initiative is a global Chinese development strategy aiming at implementing regional collectivity and catalyzing economic development by broadening trade links between Asia, Africa, and Europe. The initiative is comprised of two main components: the Silk Road Economic Belt, which focuses on overland connectivity, and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, which focuses on maritime routes. This year, the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), a massive infrastructure development project, marks a decade since its launch. Its expansion into Russia and Central Asia over the past several years presents both opportunities and challenges. While it promises economic growth and development, concerns about environmental sustainability, social impacts, and geopolitical tensions persist. The proposed research paper aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the Belt and Road Initiative’s (BRI) influence in Russia and Kazakhstan. Given the BRI’s significant role in shaping global economic and political landscapes, understanding its multifaceted impacts within specific regional contexts is crucial. The research uses a mix of methods including literature review, case study, content analysis, policy, and network analysis. A comparative analysis of the impacts of the Belt and Road Initiative in Russia and Kazakhstan is to be provided. This paper will explore the economic benefits and environmental implications of the BRI, offering nuanced insights grounded in empirical data and theoretical analysis.
