Grounded in GVC and international business theories, the research examines three core questions: the market entry modes adopted by enterprises, the key factors influencing international market selection, and how GVC upgrading enhances global competitiveness. Using a qualitative case study approach, the paper analyzes each company’s international development timeline, entry strategies, and global layout. It finds that the companies adopt phased and diversified internationalization paths, paths, beginning with export and contract manufacturing, followed by strategic alliances, and eventually large-scale overseas investment and localized operations. The research highlights how enterprises shift from low-value manufacturing to high-value activities through technology innovation, supply chain integration, and brand internationalization. Furthermore, comparative analysis shows that institutional environments, market size, geographic proximity, and industrial infrastructure are key determinants in international market selection. The study offers theoretical insights into GVC upgrading and practical recommendations for both enterprises and policymakers, aiming to support Chinese new energy firms in achieving high-quality global expansion.
