| Kivonat: | In my thesis, I explore how UNICEF is protecting migrant children’s rights. As a start, I introduce UNICEF, to have an overview of the organisation’s history and establishment, its mission, key achievements, and its evolution of role in child protection. Thereafter, I focus on UNICEF’s engagement with migrants, delving into the background and context, the initial measures undertaken, and lastly, the global necessity for UNICEF’s interventions. Consequently, I introduce their work with migrants in general, and then look into UNICEF and their partners, who play a role in their work with migrants. I present some case studies of successful partnerships. Subsequently, the legal framework is discussed relating to migrant children, following the rights that UNICEF has collaborated to create. In these chapters, I explore international conventions and agreements, UNICEF’s role in advocacy and policy formulation and international frameworks UNICEF upholds. Future goals are presented as well regarding migrant and refugee children. A crucial question is examined later on: How does UNICEF contribute to shaping national and international migration policies? To answer, I analyse how policies change and some case studies. Lastly, the recent activities of the organisation are shown, presenting major objectives and measures. |
